Our Purpose

At Nikao Church our purpose is simple - PEOPLE. Our desire is to help people overcome through Christ and win in life. We are determined to do this by any Godly means necessary.

OUR PURPOSE

At Nikao Church our purpose is simple—PEOPLE.

Our desire is to help people CONQUER through Christ and win in life.

We are determined to do this by any Godly means necessary.

We believe that Jesus Christ came so that people would experience life and have life to the full.  That the power of God and His kingdom is not supposed to be something experienced solely in church, but in every area of your life.  That as a believer you don’t have to be overcome by life, but can overcome in life through Christ and ultimately experience victory in every area of your life.

We want people to understand that they were not just born to survive but that they were destined to win as they discover what can happen when WE truly becomes greater than ME!

OUR PASTOR

Brian Duley is the Senior Pastor of Nikao Church, a new, vibrant and life giving church in the Charlotte area. He and his wife, Tamika, started Nikao with launch team meetings in the basement of their home in late 2014 with a group of 12 faithful individuals. Nikao Church held its first public service on March 15, 2015 and since that time, under Pastor Brian’s leadership, with an incredible team of staff and volunteers, Nikao has witnessed God do amazing things. In four years, over 300 people have made commitments to Christ and Nikao has quickly grown in attendance with over 1000 people worshipping together each week.

Pastor Brian holds a business degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a degree from Rhema Bible Training College with a concentration in pastoral ministry. He has a passion to see people transformed by the truth of the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit; people who are reaching their God-given potential and walking in their God-designed life.

Known for his innovative approach and never a dull moment services, Pastor Brian believes wholeheartedly in developing creative and cutting-edge ways to reach people for the cause of Christ. He is a firm believer that we must be willing to achieve our mission by any Godly means necessary!

Together with his beautiful wife of 13 years, Tamika, three daughters: Miranda, Kailyn, and Gabrielle, and son, Brian II, Pastor Brian is excited to see the incredible things God is going to do in and through the lives of those in Charlotte, NC as WE becomes greater than ME.

Our Core Values

At Nikao Church we have twelve core values that guide our church and our culture. Our number one core value is We > Me™. While the Kingdom of God is supposed to impact me, it was never intended to be all about me. It is actually supposed to be about WE. Your life is supposed to be lived in a way that makes a difference in WE.

1.    WE greater than ME. KINGDOM

We believe the attitude of WE greater than me is ultimately the heart of God.  Jesus demonstrated this concept by laying down His life (me) for us (WE).  While the Kingdom of God is supposed to impact me, it was never intended to be all about me.  It is actually supposed to be about WE.  Your life is supposed to be lived in a way that makes a difference in WE. What would Charlotte look like if people truly began to live life from the perspective that WE is truly greater than ME?

2.    WE believe the best. LOVE

We are determined to be a church that will demonstrate our love for God by our love for others.  We will be unified in love, fighting to protect that unity at all costs by striving to not gossip, complain, or talk about others.  While this can be challenging we are determined to see people as God sees them and treat every individual with the love of God regardless of who they are, where they come from, what they may look like, or even how they may treat us.

3.    WE get out of the boat. FAITH

It’s often remembered that Jesus walked on water, but many forget that Peter also walked on water.  In faith, Peter believed that the power of God was supposed to impact his life and allow him to do things others couldn’t and stepped outside of the comfortable and familiar place of the boat.  In that same spirit of faith, we will get out of the boat and step into the situations of our everyday lives with faith believing that God has empowered us to do the impossible.

4.    WE are Sam. Sam I am. KIDS

Just as the prophet Samuel was called by God to anoint David the next king of Israel, we believe it is our job to call out the God given potential in the next generation. We will invest heavily in our youth and children with our time, programs, and resources. Leaving an inheritance for our children’s children isn’t just about what we leave to them financially, but what we leave in them spiritually.

5.    WE play with fire. WORSHIP

We believe worship is the will of God for His people and that God inhabits the praises of His people. We are determined to be people that passionately worship God with both our lips and our lives, bringing Him glory in all we do. In the words of David, we will become even more undignified than this.

6. WE roll the toothpaste. SACRIFICE

Have you ever tried to roll the toothpaste tube just to squeeze an extra drop out?  Ever tried to cut the top just to get more out? Our prayer is that God would roll the tubes of our lives and perform spiritual surgery on our hearts, in order to get every ounce of anointing, gifting, and glory out of our lives. We will give all that we have and all that we are to be used by God to make a difference in our world.

7. WE sweat the small stuff. EXCELLENCE

Often, the difference is in the details.  It is our desire to make sure we strive for excellence in all that we do and all that we are, because if there is any cause worthy of excellence it is the Kingdom of God.

Our Story

Our Story

Four years ago, Nikao Church began with 12 people gathering in the basement of Pastor Brian’s home. Small but mighty, this group dared to create a church that would be dedicated to helping people know God and live out His heart which we believe is WE > me™.

From that first meeting, the launch team of Nikao began to quickly outgrow the basement. In January of 2015, the launch team exponentially grew and began meeting at the Hilton University Hotel. Through a series of leadership trainings and growth in God’s Word, 68 members prepared for public service and the mission of Nikao.

On March 15, 2015, Nikao Church officially launched, holding its first public Sunday worship service at Zebulon B. Vance High School in Charlotte, NC.

In just four years since that day in March, Nikao has quickly grown to over 750 people worshiping together weekly and over 500 people making life-changing commitments to Jesus. In addition, we continue to hear and witness stories of families restored, lives transformed, people healed, faith revived and trust in “church” regained by the power of God.

In this fourth year, we stand on the principle that God will do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. With more people coming to Know God and Live Out His Heart; a city transformed by people determined to live out God’s heart; and Kingdom outside the walls of Church. We are Nikao living “We greater than me!”

COMMON QUESTIONS

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Nikao Church is conveniently located at Zebulon B. Vance High School in Charlotte.  From Interstate 85, using either the IKEA Blvd or the Harris Blvd exit, we are approximately a mile away at 7600 IBM Dr, Charlotte NC 28262 (click here for directions).  Look for the blue Nikao Church street signs to guide you.

WHAT ARE YOUR WEEKEND SERVICES LIKE?

Each weekend at Nikao you’ll find a warm, friendly and exciting atmosphere with passionate worship music and a practical, relevant message that will both inspire and instruct you. During service you will find the song lyrics on the screens to assist you in participating during worship and message outlines to help you make the most of each week’s message.  Children will have a blast and will be well-cared for in our loving and quality nursery and fun-filled Nikao Kids service.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I VISIT FOR THE FIRST TIME?

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while—and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.

WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?

At Nikao Church, your children are a top priority. In our Nikao Kids ministry, you will find nursery and preschool classrooms that are clean, safe, and staffed with loving workers. For our preschool and elementary children, we have a dynamic worship experience planned each week specifically for them.  All of our volunteers are background checked, screened, and trained to ensure the safety of your children so that church, and not just Chuck E. Cheese's, becomes a place where they always want to go! All you have to do is stop by one of our Nikao Kids check-in stations to easily register your children or you can pre-register your children here.

IS THERE A NURSING MOM'S AREA?

We have a nursing mom's room available for our guests located on the NIKAO Kids Hallway in the Yellow Room. There you will find a private, quiet, soft atmosphere where you can feed your infant, change a diaper or rock your little one to sleep. This room is complete with small infant toys, bottle warmers, and comfy chairs for your usage as well as snacks and water for mom.

WHAT ABOUT MY TEENAGERS?

Nikao Church loves teenagers!  We believe they are the church of today, not tomorrow.  Throughout the pages of scripture, we read about the people God used so mightily, not knowing many were teenagers at the time.  Therefore, we invite your teenagers to participate alongside you in our weekend services, sign-up to serve in an area of ministry, get connected to a youth “WE” group, and join us at one of our many youth “Hangout” events happening during the year.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO ATTEND YOUR SERVICES?

You’ll find everything from casual clothes to business suits at our weekend services. Come in what is comfortable for you, because Nikao Church is not about what you look like or what you wear, but about who Christ is.

HOW CAN I MEET OTHERS AND GET CONNECTED?

At Nikao, there are many ways to get involved. You can begin by stopping by the Connection Point in the lobby or attending our Nikao 101 class to learn more about the church.  Additionally, our “WE groups” and monthly connection events are also great ways to connect. There, you can build meaningful friendships, learn more about the life of our church, and have the opportunity to grow in your faith.

HOW DO I JOIN OR BECOME A MEMBER?

At Nikao Church, membership equals partnership.  Our members are partners in assisting us to achieve our mission of helping people overcome through Christ and win in life.  They are active participants and contribute to the mission of our church by attending regularly, connecting in groups, inviting others, and serving with their time, talents, and treasure.  If you would like to partner with us by becoming a member, join us at Nikao 101 class or stop by the Connection Point in the lobby for more details.
