NORTH CAMPUS RELOCATION PLAN FAQ’s

What is happening with the Nikao North Campus?

We are currently working to relocate our Nikao North Campus to a different location on the city's north side. In the meantime, our North Campus will meet at our Nikao Church Main Campus location beginning on March 3rd. Click here to see the announcement from Pastor Brian.

With all of our Nikao family coming together at one physical location for a short season, we are incredibly excited for an incredible time together with The Lord at one of two service times, 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., at our Nikao Church Main Campus.

BONUS: Our global online campus will continue to serve the many people who call Nikao home from around the region and other states.

Why is that happening?

Due to unforeseen changes and challenges with our current North Campus lease and our desire to ensure we are always serving the people of Nikao well spiritually, stewarding the resources of the church in wisdom, and following the will of God at all costs, we have decided to enter the process of relocating our North Campus and forgo extending our lease in our current North Campus meeting facility.

This decision is made in our church's best interest and after many months of prayer, fasting, and seeking spiritual, financial, and real estate counsel.

Our pastor, executive board of directors, board of overseers, and church leadership agree that this is the best current and future path forward for Nikao Church this season.

What is the plan moving forward?

We are actively and diligently searching for a new meeting space and longer-term options, such as a pre-existing building to purchase or land to build upon on the north side of the city. As soon as we can secure and finalize a relocation plan, we will be back on the Northside better than ever.

In the meantime, we will physically meet for services at our Main Campus location (13733 Lancaster Highway Charlotte, NC 28277) and gather digitally through our Nikao Global Online Campus. We will continue to do community together on the Northside through our many small groups and community meet-ups throughout the area.

Our Nikao Youth will continue to meet regularly on the North Side of town at United Wesleyan Church off W.T. Harris Blvd.

Additionally, we will continue to serve our Nikao North attendees by holding NIKAO NORTHSIDE NIGHTS! Special Friday night worship encounters will be held on the North Side of town just for our North Campus family. Dates are dropping soon! Stay tuned!

We have also added multiple on-campus UNCC Nikao small groups to serve the many students from the North Campus who call Nikao home.

A North Campus College Carpool and Shuttle system is also being implemented.

While we are in the process of relocating, we are not relocating our many mission efforts in the city; in fact, we are reemphasizing and doubling down on our commitment to the Northside by adding multiple mission partners in the North and focusing as well on schools in the area. We are also focusing more on the city's south side with an intentional emphasis on serving our new neighbors around our Nikao Church Main Campus.

How will this benefit NIKAO in this season?

By bringing both campuses together in this short season while we relocate our North Campus, we will be able to do the following:

  • Reunite & Reignite our Community

    • The secret sauce of the Nikao Church has always been its people and the community formed spiritually due to being connected. While we are grateful for the ability to serve people from across our region, we also recognize the power of all being together during this time.

    • So prepare for one big Nikao family reunion for the next few months!!! We won't have the t-shirt you won't wear again, nor the crazy uncle we all have, but we will have the best time together and encounter the presence of God like never before.

  • Reemphasize our Mission

    • While we are in the process of relocating our North Campus, we are not relocating our many mission efforts to the northern part of the city; in fact, we are reemphasizing and doubling down on our commitment to the Northside by adding multiple mission partners in the North and focusing as well on schools in the area. We will also focus even more concentrated efforts on the city's south side with an intentional emphasis on serving our new neighbors around our Nikao Church Main Campus. Starting in March, there will be Nikao mission projects each month across our city!

  • Refresh our Volunteers

    • NIKAO has some of the world's best volunteers, and we appreciate them! They are the heart and soul of our church. Pastor Brian always teaches that a strong church is not built on a few's gifts but on the many's sacrifices.

    • As our North Campus has met in portable venues for eight years, many Dream Team volunteers have labored so selflessly in setting up and breaking down each week to transform our meeting spaces into environments that change lives. This season of coming together will allow them to have a short sabbath from that labor.

    • Additionally, by coming together at one location this season, we will be able to have more volunteers serving on one campus, thus spreading the scheduling across more of our teams. This will ensure that those who serve consistently are refreshed and renewed. It is our heart to serve as many people as possible, as often as possible, but to ensure that those serving are also served and as healthy as possible!

  • Replenish our Financial Reserves

    • During this time, we can strategically save valuable financial resources. This will allow us to prepare for the future leasing or potential purchase of our following North Campus location and finish important current ministry projects, such as our Next Generation Building, that will serve youth and children across our region. We will also have more reserves to fund our increased emphasis on outreach.

  • Reestablish our Values/Systems

    • Studies show that anytime an organization expands, there tends to be a corresponding decrease in the overall organizational efficiency and. intended culture of the organization. At Nikao, we desire to serve people, not just serve them, but to serve them well! We believe our values and culture as a church are significant. We want to use this short season of coming together to firmly reestablish our founding principles and guiding cultural values while restructuring and reorganizing our systems to serve you and the many people Nikao better is called to reach!

  • Review our New Rhythms

    • If you haven’t heard, we have released new church rhythms that will allow us to serve you better and help you grow in God! In March, we will have a monthly Women’s Bible Study and Men’s Bible Study. We will also hold a monthly churchwide Bible study called OVERFLOW NIGHTS, complete with corporate communion, intense worship, and in-depth Biblical teaching, often with extraordinary guest ministers. Additionally, Pastor Brian will hold a monthly POUR NIGHT, serving and ministering to a specific subset of our church.

    • Conferences and Special Events are also scheduled throughout the year! To register, receive more information, and receive calendar updates, visit our events page (link here).

  • Return with Renewed Vision

    • God has spoken exciting and increased vision for our church and our multisite campus ministry to our Pastor. He believes this relocation period will allow us to carry out the vision God has revealed even more excellently in this season and our return to the North Campus. We will be able to reach even more people for Christ in a more effective way that is healthier, stronger, and better than ever before. We won’t just be back like we never left; we will be back soon and better than before!

If you have any further questions or if we can serve you in any way, please let us know by contacting us here. We are here to serve you! The best is ahead, and we can’t wait to get together this season while eagerly expecting to be back on the North side in our new Nikao North Campus soon!
